I’m really, really, really sad to get on that plane tonight. Everything that awaits me in DC is stressful. Some things are fun. I guess I’m just tired and enjoyed this vacation WAYYYY too much!

At least I’m coming back home in just over two weeks. YES.

You are where I was 15 hours ago. Basically, I’m going to bed now (at 8:15) and not worrying about the stressful stuff until tomorrow. You should do the same. No worrying til Wednesday.

:D

So, today on my flight, someone’s laptop case’s strap broke, sending their very heavy bag directly onto my nose. Luckily I had glasses on, so I avoided major damage to my eye. My nose is swollen and red and starting to hurt a bit more now.

Is it wrong that I wish it had a least bled so I could have used it as an excuse to go back to my house and sleep for the day?

Sigh. I’m so not ready to be back.

It is ridiculously hot on this plane. Also? I really don’t want to go back to reality today.

What the heck is Cyber Monday?

I feel so out of the loop.

Nov 29, 2009

I love Black Friday.

Mainly because I get to spend it with my mom and because we make quite the team (we were basically done by noon).

I also love it because:

  1. My Christmas shopping is pretty much done
  2. I wrapped my presents this evening while watching movies with my parents
  3. I don’t have to worry about finishing anything up, shipping things, or having to bring home presents on the airplane come December 22nd.
  4. I got an awesome coffee maker for $13.

All in all, today was wonderful.

Now I’m passing out. :)

if I said I had watched the Muppets Bohemian Rhapsody video so many times that I now cannot get Animal singing “Mama” out of my head?

I have always really, really loved the Muppets.

I actually think this should be a point of pride.

In my late-night watching of Lifetime (what? Like you don’t watch it too?), I discovered that the seventh season of Project Runway premieres in January.

I don’t know if I can get used to this. I’m used to waiting a year between seasons.

Also, I fear it might be like the current season of So You Think You Can Dance - so soon on TV after the last season makes it seem like overkill.

I guess we did wait five million years for the sixth season, so maybe it won’t matter.

Thoughts?

We're Really Growing Up..

ohheyychrissy:

Funny/interesting observation - most people that are around my age are tweeting, facebooking and blogging about how excited they are to go home for the holidays… and see their families.

I look at my sister and her friends (freshman in college) and 90% are writing about how excited they are to be reunited with their friends.

Funny how time changes priorities, huh? The families that we used to say hi to as we ran out the door to meet friends at the movies (at least me) are the main thing that we’re now excited to see.

We really are growing up.

Word.

FYI: The announcement of the Dancing With the Stars winner was the most pissed off I have ever seen my dad.

Swear. to. God.

Maybe I need to watch this show more often?

Oh my gosh. My dad is getting so worked up over the Dancing With the Stars finals. He swears it’s fixed. He also apparently hates Donny Osmond. Who knew?

Haircut Day!

hotterthanapeppersprout:

Confession:  I always go for an inordinate amount of time between haircuts.

After a week or so of noticing that my ends looked scraggly even if I flat-ironed, I decided it was time to go get a haircut after work today - so I called my friendly neighborhood salon - the last time I went was the FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND!

I’m really excited to get a trim and trying a new stylist (I did not like the haircut I got last time, which is part of why I have put off going back for a new haircut) - wish me luck!

I am totally the same way and just got a haircut today. It’s amazing how taking a few inches off can make you feel like you have a whole new head of hair!

Yo, weather. You really better get your act together before I fly this evening. I keep getting newsroom messages about flight cancellations.

I don’t really want any of that, OK?

Thanks!

Quick! Someone! What do 53-ish degrees feel like? This fall has me so messed up and going from D.C.’s climate to Michigan’s has me all worried and confused. I lived in Michigan for 22 years, but for the life of me, living in D.C. the past 2.5 has me believing you can walk outside without a jacket in November everywhere.

Do I bring the big puffer jacket? Or do I just pray that I don’t get too cold?

Eep!

No shame

whiteoleanders:

Proof that I will do just about anything for Indian food:

My coworker went to lunch with another department for a business meeting, and came back with a small bag of leftovers. Apparently the others didn’t want theirs and gave them to said coworker. She then offered a little plastic container of leftover curry to me, which I accepted without batting an eyelash. I mean, this is food from The Bombay Club – some of the most insanely fabulous Indian food I have ever eaten. However…keep in mind – these are someone else’s leftovers. Granted, I know the people my coworker went to lunch with, but I have no idea who specifically these belonged to. And everything looked normal – it’s mostly rice and a little bit of meat, but it’s not like a half-eaten sandwich or something.

That being said, I was still a little appalled at my inability to turn it down. Am I gross or what? How is this any different than stopping a waiter as he takes plates away from another table and saying “oh don’t worry, I’ll save you the trouble of putting that in trash – I’ll just eat it myself.” I’ve been eyeing the container doubtfully for about 15 minutes and finally delved in. I couldn’t help it. This food is just so amazing. And now my eyes are watering and my mouth is on fire as if the gods of Indian food are punishing me for acting like a homeless person and eating someone else’s unwanted lunch remains (at least I get points for not digging it out of the trash, right?), but I can’t stop. Once I got what I thought was a “green bean” but I think it was a chili pepper, which of course sent me into a conniption looking for my water bottle. I suppose I should be more cautious with the swine flu epidemic going around. Apparently I value curry over my own health.

The moral of this story: go to The Bombay Club on Connecticut and Eye St NW in Washington DC. And please don’t eat someone else’s leftovers.

Fact: My roommate is hilarious.

On Michigan

(via allthingsalishan):

imnotthatkindofgirl:

I have been thinking this for a while now, but it is ultimately confirmed today.

Michigan makes some great people. Everyone I have ever met from the state is intelligent, witty, and all around good times. I am now considering relocating to Michigan with the hopes that any futur spawn of mine will turn out as awesome.

*Alishan I don’t know how I missed it, but I didn’t know you were a Michigan baby. You have just cemented my love for a state I’ve never been to.

It’s true, Michigan people sort of rock, in my opinion (but I may be a bit biased as I’m from there - BUT born in Toledo). I get to return to my lovely home state tomorrow evening and I’m so. stinking. excited.

frack.

I leave for home Thursday after work.

Have I done laundry?

No.

Have I started packing?

Of course not!

Do I have plans to chill with my girl, K, tomorrow to celebrate raises and new apartments?

Hell yes.

Hey, mom and dad have a washer and dryer. Looks like I’m taking dirty clothes home, kids.
