it’s taken me a while, but i’m learning that life is about balancing expectations. to keep your standards high, but not remain so focused on them that you don’t allow things to just happen. it’s often hard to just ‘let go’ of control in your life - it’s a scary place to be - but it’s also a wonderful way to open yourself up to pleasant, unexpected surprises: a text from someone you didn’t think would come through; the rekindling of a friendship you weren’t sure would be possible; a valentine you weren’t anticipating.
i got three surprises yesterday. three good surprises that made me realize that sometimes letting go is the best thing for you. and three surprises that told me that my gut instinct is still pretty accurate and i should probably learn to trust it a bit more, rather than trying to make things happen the way i think they should. 
so, if there’s something you’re anxious about, something that’s eating away at your thoughts, ruining your concentration and making you feel unlike yourself: let it go.
trust me. good things will come to you if you just let it happen.
