Peeps. I’m not a fashion blogger. Nor do I claim to be an awesome photographer. I’m more or less a person who needs a creative outlet in order not to go insane. So, I created this new blog called “I Don’t Wear Heels” because: 1) I like taking photos. 2) I like showing you my clothes (and I think people like to see them?) which come from the clearance rack more often than not. 3) I don’t want my personal blog to become a highly-edited photo party. 4) I really, really do need a creative outlet. 5) I really have sworn off heels because they hurt my feet.

So, if you want to see me talk about cheap clothes or give you a tutorial on how to get wavy/curly hair while still sleeping in in the morning, then you can check this puppy out. I didn’t want to bombard your dash with it unless you wanted it, hence why I created a new blog.

Just a note: you’ll have to be comfortable seeing me in my granny nightie, because I promise there will be a lot of that :)

hair | for when you want some extra sleep

I am one of those people who has to leave the house feeling somewhat put together. I used to be one of those people who just HAD to do her hair every morning before I could leave. That got old real quick, especially when I had to get up for an earlier work shift about a year ago. I figured out a way to take care of my shower and hair the night before - so I could fit in a few extra winks of sleep in the morning.

For curly waves, here’s an easy hair trick:

  1. Take your shower, wash your hair and let it air dry. (top left)
  2. When it gets to the point where it feels dry but is still slightly damp… (top right)
  3. Twist it up into a bun on top of your head. Tie it with an elastic. (bottom left)
  4. Get some beauty rest!
  5. When you wake up, take down the bun and finger style your hair. (bottom right)
  6. Spritz with a little hairspray, and you’re good to go. (middle!)

Some tips: I sometimes get impatient and put my hair up while it’s still a little too wet. You can fix this in the morning by blow-drying your bun a bit with a hair-dryer. If, when you take it down, it’s still a little damp, blow it dry with the hair-dryer on low or with a diffuser on the end. Only for a few seconds. Then style and hairspray and you should be set.

If I’m feeling especially lazy, I’ll often just wash my bangs the next morning and will style my curls in a messy bun. Effortless, but still cute.

PS - I also find that it’s absolutely necessary to wear a granny nightie while doing this. Absolutely necessary.
