just a nerdy girl living in our nation's capital.
Only a few more hours separate me from sushi, drinks and the bestest of friends!
Good Lord, I cannot wait.
I made these pumpkin cheesecake Oreo bars last night.
Oh man, are they delicious. I used a low fat cream cheese, so they’re not as firm as I would like, but they are still SO GOOD. I also don’t have a food processor, so I just smashed the heck out of the Oreos with a can of beans (John helped). Also a good way to take out some rage.
I bought a ginormous can of pumpkin and after making two pumpkin items, I still have half of it left, so the pumpkin baking continues with these.
I made these delicious pumpkin spiced cream cheese breakfast rolls on Saturday. They make two pans. John and I polished off the first pan in like two hours. They are so good and so easy to make - and perfect for a fall morning of laziness and College Game Day (and also for when you’re depressed that your football team played miserably later on in the day). Did I mention that they were incredibly easy to make and SO DELICIOUS?
Just make them. Promise me you will!
I can get behind these.

Will, most definitely, be making this soon.
Do you have any bar or restaurant recs? We’re staying with my brother in Uptown, but are happy to navigate easily via public transportation. We really want to try anything that’s good, or a must-visit, if you’re in the city. Preferably not too expensive, and if you have any good bar recs where dancing abounds (but is not a douche-fest), we’d very much like to hear it!
I should note: I lived in Chicago and visit at least once every year, so if you have anything that’s off the beaten path or not traditional touristy, I’d love to hear it!
So, what do you have for us?
This past weekend was nice. A perk? John’s mom gave me a cooking lesson so I could learn to make more traditional Ghanaian foods. She taught me how to make one of my favorite dishes, waakye, and some meat pies (which John loves). Now I’ve added three traditional Ghanaian dishes to my repertoire, with a promise to be taught more. Hooray!
